Podiatry software: what a modern platform should have
Published: 2026-05-05 · 7 min read
More podiatrists are moving away from manual insole design or traditional CAD/CAM toward specialized SaaS platforms. But not all are equal. These are the key features that set a modern professional platform apart.
1. Parametric design, not CAD
Good clinical software doesn't require CAD knowledge. The parameters you control are clinical (heel stiffness, arch support, usage mode), not engineering.
2. Compatible with your scanner
A closed platform that only works with a specific scanner locks you into a vendor. Look for standard STL compatibility to keep hardware freedom.
3. Anonymous patients by default
Patient data protection is critical. Good software lets you work with internal references without requiring you to upload personal data.
4. Roles, teams and traceability
Beyond design, a clinic needs to manage patients, assignments, production states and billing. The platform must scale with you.
